The group stage is about to commence.

Prepare your mid-week planning because the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League group stage draw is about to take place. The draw will happen this Thursday at 4pm BST. Our beloved Liverpool FC will be in Pot 1, along with last season’s Champions League winners Bayern Munich and Europa League winners Sevilla, as well as the rest of the domestic champions from the top-six performing leagues across Europe. Here’s the full list of potential teams in the four pots:

Pot 1: Bayern, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Porto.

Pot 2: Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Ajax.

Pot 3: RB Leipzig, Inter Milan, Lazio, Atalanta, Dynamo Kiev/Gent

Pot 4: Borussia Monchengladbach, Istanbul Basaksehir, Rennes, Slavia Prague/Midtjylland, Molde/Ferencvaros

The teams that are up in the air are, of course, dependent on the play-off ties yet to be played. The six winners will then join the 26 teams that have already booked their place in the group stage. There is no chance of the Premier League clubs, or clubs from the same country, being drawn together at this stage of the competition.

Liverpool will likely have to go through one of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk, or Ajax, while RB Leipzig and the Italian trio of Inter, Lazio, and Atalanta are no pushovers too. Let the random ball bouncing begin.

The match days, if you are indeed planning you schedule around them, are:

Matchday one: October 20/21

Matchday two: October 27/28

Matchday three: November 3/4

Matchday four: November 24/25

Matchday five: December 1/2

Matchday six: December 8/9
