Official: Liverpool Sign Diogo Jota From Wolves
The Portuguese international arrives on a five year contract to strengthen Liverpool’s attack.
Enjoy your weekend, the deed is done. Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Diogo Jota from Wolves on a five year contract. The smile-and-pen-holding picture has been taken, the slow-mo locker room Tweet has been posted, and now all that’s left is the awkward Melwood picture set to complete the transfer triumvirate.
This deal feels lightening-quick, with everyone’s eyes on, first Timo Werner, and then Thiago Alcantara, but Jota has been on the club’s radar for years. The deal, reportedly starting at £41m and rising up to £45m with add-ons, hinged on Wolves allowing Liverpool to pay the total in increments. The first 10% will be paid in the next 12 months.

Jota will provide further options in Liverpool’s attack and strengthen the squad, which has felt a bit thin anytime one or more of Salah, Mane or Firmino get sidelined.
The 23-year-old Portuguese winger is young and already has several years of experience playing in the Premier League and European competitions with Wolves. It should make the bedding-in process — which is notoriously slow and meticulous under Klopp [see: Keita, Fabinho, Robertson] go that much quicker.
Jota will not be available to play tomorrow against Chelsea, so his first match could be the League Cup game against Lincoln City this Thursday, a relatively low stakes match to get his feet under him.
