Liverpool Will Say Goodbye to Melwood Over the International Break

The long-awaited construction has finished.

The Echo reports that the Liverpool first team will be making their long-awaited move from Melwood to their brand new facility in Kirkby during the November international break. When the world came to a halt last spring due to the coronavirus, so did construction on the £50million project.

The switch over was meant to happen at the club’s leisure during the summer break, but now the two weeks off for the international break will have to do instead.

The move from the famous Melwood training facility is part of an effort by manager Jurgen Klopp to unite all levels of the club. In this way, training will become more uniform, thereby making it easier for young players to transition to the first team.

The new facility will be state of the art and a significant upgrade from their current set-up.

Luckily, the team has been free to stay at Melwood an extra half a year, because the housing trust who purchased Melwood for £10m allowed them to remain in the grounds for 12 months.
