Rumour Mongering: Bids Received for Brewster, Wilson, and Grujic

With the majority of Liverpool’s major transfer business concluded, the first team’s depth chart looks pretty set across the board. That clears the way for players on the fringes to make way and find playing time somewhere else. We’ve already seen the likes of Loris Karius, and Ki-Jana Hoever depart the club already, and it looks like it’ll be a busy if not quite as headline-making end to the window for Mikey Edwards and team.

Neil Jones of Goal.com has updates on the situations of a number of players today. What he says about Rhian Brewster’s situation is in line with the Sheffield Star reports from earlier: Sheffield United are interested and have “made their move”, Liverpool are holding out for a fee in the region of £20M and will insist on a buy-back clause. Crystal Palace, Fulham and Brighton are also said to be interested, but have yet to put in a formal bid.

Meanwhile, Burnley have tabled a £12M for Harry Wilson, which is expected to be rejected as Liverpool as holding out for a higher bid. Leicester, Fulham, Southampton, Leeds Newcastle, and Aston Villa (on loan, but were told by LFC they were only interested in a transfer) were reported to be interested in the Welsh winger earlier as well.

The club are also looking for £20M for Marko Grujic. The player is reportedly open to a move back to Germany, where he spent the last two seasons on loan at Hertha Berlin. Borussia Mönchengladbach had been interested in bringing the player aboard their project last summer, before Grujic elected to return to the German capital.

The club is hoping to raise around £50m from the sale of the trio, although one more outgoing could be in the form of 19 year-old left-back Yasser Larouci. Jones reports that two clubs have been in contact with LFC (Leeds? Norwich?), although any deal involving all of the above players may go down to the wire on deadline day.

On the loan side of things, Ben Woodburn’s move to Sparta Rotterdam has collapsed, with Hull now leading the race for him. For the people (like myself) wondering why Sepp van den Berg didn’t seem to be in contention for that 4th centre-back at all, we now have an answer. The club believe he hasn’t “developed as expected” since moving from PEC Zwolle last summer and a loan move will help the ginger-headed giant get some much needed play time to help with his development. He has teams from Germany and his native Netherlands interested.

Last but not least, a loan move is being cooked up for Canadian forward Liam Millar, who spent time in the first-team with Kilmarnock in Scotland across two spells.
