Scotland Manager Steve Clark Hoping Andrew Robertson Can Face Israel

Robertson’s hamstring is said to be fine and his withdrawal against Slovakia only about general tiredness.
After feeling his hamstring tighten up towards the end of Scotland’s historic victory over Serbia last week, Liverpool left back and national team captain Andrew Robertson was left out against Slovakia on Sunday.
Unsurprisingly, this led to some concern amongst Liverpool fans given the defence is already without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, today’s update from national team manager Steve Clarke sounds promising.
“There were three or four players who could have done with another 24 hours, just to get their recovery right,” Clarke told reporters. “Andy was probably a little bit worse than the rest, which is why I left him out.
“It would have been too big a risk. But he’s coming to Israel so we’ll assess him over there and hopefully get him on the pitch. That would be good as we’d like our captain on the pitch.”
Ideally, given Scotland have now qualified for the Euros thanks to that victory over Serbia—their first major tournament in 23 long years—Robertson would be given Wednesday’s game, the third international of the break, off.
It doesn’t sound as though Clarke is considering that, though, and the most positive reading of that would be that Robertson’s withdrawal against Slovakia really was only about general tiredness and that his hamstring is perfectly fine.
