You and me both, Jürgen.

Sam Allardyce. Big Sam. Did us again.

It’s inevitable, really. Of course he would cancel out Sadio Mane’s first goal and play his kind of football. Of course it worked. Because of course. Death, taxes, and Big Sam.

Jürgen Klopp was a little edgy about it, but ultimately honest.

“The frustration grew a bit through the game”, BBC Sport report the Liverpool manager as saying. I liked the first half, it was a proper challenge in the first half but we started lively. We played the simple passes and we did all the things that were necessary but in the second half after five minutes they had more situations than they did in the entire first half.

“It is not easy to play against a team like this and it is not easy to play like this. It is a challenge for West Brom, can they play like this for the rest of the season?

“Sam Allardyce is experienced and sets the team up like this and that is completely fine. It is not the first time we played against a deep block and usually we find the solutions for it.

“You have to use the chances when you have them but it is not the end of the world, it is a football game we wanted to win and should have won but now I have seen the full 95 minutes I feel they deserved a point.”

It is what it is. Que sera sera. Big Sam is inevitable. Life goes on.
