Liverpool Reportedly Certain to Offer Mohamed Salah New Deal
An extended contract is likely to be on the table for Salah, who’s current deal runs through the summer of 2023.
Following suggestions of unhappiness or tension between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool, and with a potential summer move to Real Madrid or Barcelona proposed by the rumour mongers, it was always likely we’d always get some kind of a response from the club.
Unsurprisingly, the unofficial response via club-connected journalists is that everyone remains more than happy with the Egyptian international’s efforts—and that perhaps more interestingly and importantly, a new deal is likely to be on the table in the near future.
That’s the story from Goal’s Neil Jones, who says the club are certain to offer Salah an extended and improved deal on his current contract, which sees the 28-year-old on around £200k per week and that runs two more full seasons through the summer of 2023.
For Salah’s part, given the player turns 29 next summer, it’s likely his next deal—be it with the Reds or another club—will be his last big one. As such, it’s easy to imagine why we might be hearing talk of Salah’s eye wandering to the likes of Madrid and Barcelona.
Liverpool, though, will certainly understand that Salah will be looking for his last big deal—and so if a new contract is in fact certain to be offered to Salah, it would be difficult to imagine the club intending to play hardball with him over wage or duration.
