Mo Salah Wants to Extend His Top Scorer Lead
The record-breaker wants to go keeping.
It was an eventful night for Mohamed Salah against FC Midtjylland. After just 55 seconds, Mo scored his 22nd Champions League goal, moving him past Steven Gerrard for most Champions League goals in club history. That goal was also the fastest goal Liverpool FC have scored in the competition’s history, making it a night of multiple records for the Egyptian King.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, the Egyptian King talked about his desire to rack up the score:
It’s a great feeling, of course, to be the top scorer for the club [in the Champions League], something I’m proud of.
I need to keep going like that and scoring more goals and make the gap maybe bigger between me and the others!
But I’m trying all the time to score goals just to help the team to win games – that’s the most important thing.
It’s often difficult to take a step back and just appreciate greatness until everything’s said and done, but Mo Salah’s doing a pretty damn good job making us look and acknowledge him with the speed that he’s blistering these records. Long may he run down the wing.
