Aston Villa 1, Liverpool 4: Man of the Match
We want you to choose Liverpool’s Man of the Match after the initially-worrying FA Cup tie in Birmingham.
After a struggle of a first half (made all the more difficult by their goalkeeper’s assured performance), Liverpool’s patience and experience shone through in the second 45. Thiago, who came on at the half, added much-needed creativity and stability to the midfield, while Sadio Mané was perhaps Liverpool’s most consistent performer, looking dangerous throughout and leaving the pitch unlucky to not notch a hat trick. James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum played to their respective bests, being the adults on the pitch even when things were not quite going their way.
Now let us know how you saw it. We’ve narrowed the options down to a few of the players we thought were the better performers on the day for the Reds, so make your choice below and vote for who you think should be the man of the match — or take to the comments to let us know that we got it wrong by leaving the real man of the match out of the poll entirely.
And as always, a reminder that anyone visiting on Apple News or Google AMP who wishes to vote and can’t see the poll can make it visible by navigating to the front page of The Liverpool Offside and loading the full version of the story from there.
