Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Consider Inter Milan Loan for Divock Origi
Reports out of Italy think Liverpool might be willing to let the striker leave in a loan-to-buy deal.
Liverpool are dealing with a defensive injury crisis, but in attack they have more players than minutes to go around. Even with Diogo Jota currently out injured, playing time has been hard to come by for Taki Minamino, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Divock Origi.
The result could be a departure for one of those players this month, with Italian reports suggesting it is Origi most likely to leave—and with CalcioMercato claiming Inter Milan in particular are interested in bringing him in to partner with Romelu Lukaku.
However, they claim Liverpool would consider a loan-to-buy deal just to shift Origi. It seems reason to doubt the chatter, especially considering Italian sides’ history of backing out of such agreements. Still, there could be at least one reason to agree a loan.
Moving the Belgian could give Liverpool space to register another foreign-trained player, which could be used to sign a short-term solution at centre half. That remains the easiest way to make sense of any January departure talk when it comes to Origi.
