Rumour Mongering: Sepp Van den Berg Set for Loan Move
The youngster may seek first-team football elsewhere.
Sepp Van den Berg, the 19 year old Dutch centre back who joined Liverpool in 2019 from Eredivisie club PEC Zwolle, may be set for a loan move away, according to Goal.
Reports suggest that the club intends for him to gain first-team football experience, and has spoken to a number of European parties in Belgium, Germany and Switzerland.
This season Van den Berg has not been deemed ready for the first team, with no senior appearances other than being an unused substitute once. He has featured for the U23 side nine times instead.
He moved from PEC Zwolle last year for a sum of £1.3 million after 22 senior appearances there. There were suggestions of a loan move back to the Eredivisie this past October, but that did not materialize.
Goal reports that there is one Belgian Pro League club, one 2.Bundesliga club and one Swiss Super League side among the parties interested in signing him. He has apparently already held talks with all three on video call.
There are also reports that Blackburn Rovers has expressed interest in him, the club where 17-year old ace Liverpool winger Harvey Elliot has been making waves on his loan move this season.
Goal expects his loan move to be completed this week itself.
