The 22 year old left back spent last season on loan with Toronto FC in Major League Soccer, and could be in line for a loan or permanent deal in England this time.
Liverpool’s transfer window so far started with a splash when Ibrahima Konaté was signed to bolster the defensive line. Since that time, Michael Edwards and the Liverpool FC backroom staff have been negotiating outgoing moves, much to the chagrin of a certain segment of fans.
While most are expecting the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Nat Phillips, and Divock Origi to also leave this summer, it is Tony Gallacher who may be next out the door. The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Sunderland have inquired about the Scottish left back. They report that Sunderland are interested in a loan deal, but a permanent deal is not off the table as Liverpool look to add funds to their transfer kitty.
Gallacher joined Liverpool in 2018 from Falkirk. He spent most of his time at Liverpool with the U23s, but did manage one senior team appearance when a team of youth players took on Aston Villa in the 2019-2020 Carabao Cup while the senior team was in Qatar to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Gallacher spent last fall on loan with Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. He managed 10 matches with the Canadian side, including 5 starts.
Sunderland have had an inauspicious go of it since they were relegated in 2017. The team suffered another successive relegation in 2018, falling down to League One where they still reside.
