Liverpool Summer Camp Continues in Innsbruck

It’s not nap time, but I think this is the closest we’ll get.

Let’s hope the air in Austria is as rejuvenating as two straight weeks of naps, because that’s apparently what the Reds have decided is necessary for their pre-season training camp. The Reds have moved from Salzburg to Innsbruck and will be continuing to recuperate and rebuild in advance of the next season.

Pre-season competitions have been positive so far, with Liverpool winning every game, including a 1-0 win in their only full-length match against Mainz on Friday. The fact that the players are getting back into the groove of playing with each other—especially defenders who’ve presumably forgotten what their defensive partners even looked like—is also definitely worth celebrating. Chief of those celebrations is for the triumphant reunion of Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk, obviously (and we’re not the only ones celebrating):

And while Van Dijk is unlikely to play in the Reds next match against Hertha Berlin, the fact that the linchpin of the team’s defense is back and in (we hope) perfect shape, is good enough news.

You can watch the highlights of Liverpool running drills on the club’s official website, and look at some excellent pictures of the team just enjoying themselves here.

Once Liverpool take on Hertha Berlin, they’ll be facing Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna in friendlies before the season kicks off against Norwich City on August 14th.
