Liverpool FC Women Busy During International Break, Rylee Foster Injured In Car Accident
There are twelve Liverpool players who have been called in for international duty. Rylee Foster was involved in a traffic indecent while visiting friends.
If it seems like it has been a while since the Liverpool FC Women’s team has played, that’s because it has been. The LFC Women are currently midway through their October international break, which is two weeks long rather than one week like the Men’s break. There were twelve Liverpool players called in for international duty, which is impressive considering Liverpool are in the second division.
Niamh Fahey and Leanne Kiernan were both called in for the Republic of Ireland for FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Fahey started in central defense, and Kiernan came in as a sub as Ireland fell 1-0 to Sweden. Ireland take on Finland next.
Rachel Furness, a stalwart for Northern Ireland, started in midfield against a tough England side. Furness and her squad fell 4-0, but still sit in third in their group in qualifying. They take on the second team in the table, Austria, on Tuesday.
Three players were called in the the Welsh National Team - Razza Roberts, Ceri Holland, and Georgia Walters. Holland and Roberts started for Wales as they drew 1-1 with Slovenia. Wales are second in their group, and will host last place Estonia in their next qualifier on Tuesday.
Two other players were brought in to senior team camps for international friendlies. Meikayla Moore joined up with her New Zealand squad in Canada to train. The Ferns fell 5-1 to Canada, with Moore starting in defense. Jade Bailey also headed west to join up with the Jamaican Women’s National Team.
Bo Kearns and Taylor Hinds were brought into the England U23 team while Charlotte Wardlaw and Lucy Parry were called in for the England U19 squad.
Unfortunately, Rylee Foster was involved in a car accident while visiting friends over the break. She was kept overnight in the hospital for observation, and then she returned to Liverpool for further assessment and to begin rehab on her injuries. There has been no additional information as to the severity of any injuries. We wish Rylee the best and hope she heals up quickly.
