Both Salah and Mané have made their mark on a century of African football.

Ahead of this winter’s AFCON, fans voted to create the African XI of the 21st Century — and you know how Liverpool fans do with online polls.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mané (Senegal) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt) are named on the wings, with Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o and Ivorian Didier Drogba up front.

At the center of midfield is Ivorian Yaya Touré and Egyptian Mohamed AbouTrika, who might have something to say about Salah being the best Egyptian player.

The back four are Egyptians Ahmed Fathi, Sayed Moawad, and Wael Gomaa alongside Senegalese Kalidou Koulibaly. In goal is Egyptian Essam El Hadary, the current national team goalkeeping coach.

In all, six Egyptians make the side, with some countries perhaps unexpectedly absent.

While it’s not a trophy or yet another record broken, Salah and Mané will be pleased with their inclusion.
