Liverpool had made the request so our Brazilians would have a better chance of making the game.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool FC’s request to shift the kick-off timing of the game at Watford on the 16th of October has been denied. The game will kick off at its scheduled timing of 12:30 on October 16th. The Reds hoped to push it back into the late evening. However, Watford argued that with under two weeks to go, fans had already made plans for the original kick-off time.

This, of course, stems from the international break and concerns the Brazilian contingent of the squad again. After the last break’s FIFA ban scare, both Alisson Becker and Fabinho have been called up and will likely feature for their national side. Yes, even Fabinho who has been usually been ignored by Tite for... reasons. He is in contention to replace Real Madrid’s Casemiro, who has sustained a fracture to the central third of his left fibula.

However, Brazil’s final fixture is against Uruguay on October 15th – a little over 24 hours before Liverpool face Watford, which would mean that it’s really doubtful that Alisson and Fabinho could play at Vicarage Road, with no guarantee that he’d even be back in the UK to do so. Liverpool isn’t the only club facing this problem, so it’s pretty strange all around.

Globo also reports that Liverpool tried another avenue: They simply asked Brazil if they’d release Alisson and Fabinho before the Uruguay game but the CBF are unlikely to do so. The Daily Mail is also reporting that the Premier League clubs have banded together to plea for their South American stars to withdraw from international duty early so they can be available to play when league action resumes.

So, no Ali and Fab for the trip to Watford it seems. Just CONMEBOL things.
