Yeah, I don’t believe it either.

It’s fair to say that Raheem Sterling has seen better days at Manchester City and Etihad Stadium. Once the apple of Pep Guardiola’s eye, he has fallen behind in the pecking order, with Phil Foden, Ferran Torres, Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez all seemingly preferred to him.

The player recently gave an interview to The Financial Times, expressing an interest in playing abroad in the future, with an eye on Spain and France in particular. Barcelona is an obvious fit, but it’s difficult to see how any transfer materialises over there with the amount of financial dumb foolery that’s going on there.

A report from SportBild journalist Christian Falk states that both Paris St. Germain and Liverpool FC are “considered to be financially strong interested parties”. Perhaps PSG are lining up Sterling as a Mbappe replacement. For Liverpool, a Sterling return make sense if Mo Salah leaves, or the recruitment staff really feels the need to get the attackers younger, as Sterling is somehow only just 26 despite seemingly having been around forever.

Does it make sense? Perhaps, but given the nature of his departure from the club, I’d be stunned if Raheem Sterling returns. Plus, it’s so much more fun to watch him spooked and not shoot whenever he gets on the ball at Anfield.
