Salah talks about ambition and his hopes for Liverpool ahead of their game at Old Trafford.

Mohamed Salah’s been doing alright this season. You know, it’s been going pretty good for him or whatever. Skirting by with the bare minimum and flying under the radar.

I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Salah’s start to the season has been explosive, scoring seven league goals in the first eight games. He’s currently the oddsmaker’s favorite to bring home the Ballon d’Or, and in every game he continues to make his case for deserving that honor.

And while he might have hit a new level this season, Salah has been breaking records and stealing hearts from the moment he stepped onto the pitch at Anfield. So how does the versatile Egyptian stay so motivated for greatness?

He sat down for an interview with the official site and tried to explain his thoughts on the subject.

“It’s always in my mind like, ‘You are here now – what do you want next?’” he explained. “I’m always trying to find something [to] drive me hard and drive me to work really hard and achieve what I want.

“It’s always the next thing for me because once you accept where you are and just relax, you can start going down. Once you have the next target and the next target, that’s what can drive you. That’s how you achieve great things.”

And Salah says he wants to achieve those things with Liverpool Football Club, despite the ongoing, well-publicized contract negotiations happening between him and the club.

“I’m just trying my best to help the team to win games, to win trophies. I like to win things with the club. I like the club here a lot, I love the club,” he said.

“I hate the word that we are underdogs or something, who can’t win something because of that or that. I’m always saying that we have to win something because we play for Liverpool.”

Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo will be the two men everyone’s looking at on Sunday when Liverpool roll up to Old Trafford to extend their unbeaten streak and get a victory against their old rivals.

That game happens Sunday at 4:30PM BST / 11:30AM EST.
