After Liverpool embarrassed Manchester United running out 5-0 victors at Old Trafford in the autumn, United head to Anfield for a mid-week Premier League clash under the lights with a new manager as they look to push for a top four finish that would give them a place in next season’s Champions League and help with their goals of a long-needed rebuild that might perhaps put them in a position to legitimately challenge the likes of rivals Liverpool and Man City for the game’s top trophies.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are pushing for honours right now. Having won the League Cup, advanced past City to reach next month’s FA Cup final, preparing for a Champions League semi-final against Villarreal, and just a single point off Premier League leaders City with seven games to play. Which becomes six after tonight. Regardless, the Reds will need and expect to take all three points tonight at Anfield, but no matter the gap that has grown between the two in recent seasons they will expect a fired up United looking for a little revenge and focused on their own table goals.
