Our goalkeeper paid tribute to an immense performance from Ibrahima Konaté.

There was plenty of things to take away from Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Anfield last night and one of them is that Ibrahima Konaté is very good at his job.

The 24-year-old Frenchman was a standout, putting in an immense shift as Arsenal attempted to attack down Liverpool’s right side. Our big otaku popped up to stop the Gunners’ two attacking Gabriels repeatedly. Just look at his numbers as compared to the game’s Man of the Match award winner, William Saliba.

When asked if this was one of Konaté’s best games in his post-match interview with LFCTV, goalkeeper Alisson Becker heaped praise on him and captain Virgil van Dijk:

“Yeah I agree, one of the best. Ibou, everybody knows how strong he is and he’s improving season after season. As he’s a big man. strong man, I think nobody realises it but he’s still young and he’s improving, being a more mature player alongside Virgil – who had an amazing game as well.”

“They had an amazing game because the other players helped them to do their job. In one-v-one situation against Martinelli, against Saka, against Gabriel Jesus, they are amazing strikers. What they did, the way they played, the way they defended was amazing.”

It’s really cool to see the rest of the defensive platoon in Konaté, Joe Gomez, and Jarell Quansah all step up collectively after injuries Joël Matip and Andy Robertson. And with Kostas Tsimikas now also heading onto the injury list, we’re gonna need them more than ever.
