The Manchester United game with be the first one with expanded Anfield Road stand.

There couldn’t have been a better game to partially open up the Anfield Road stand for more fans than Sunday’s clash against Manchester United. It’s been a long time coming, and it will be great boost of the already famously raucous Anfield atmosphere.

Alisson Becker admitted that seeing those seats empty made him imagine what it would be like to experience the match with those extra voices added to the din.

“At the games when you see the stadium with that place empty, I think you can see that when that place will be full the stadium can be even louder,” he said.

It’s no surprise that he’s very excited for the inaugural match, and knows that it will help the team maintain their perfect home record this season.

“The supporters are really important for us and I’m looking forward to seeing 57,000 people pushing us forward and giving us a big boost, not only for this game but for the rest of the season,” he continued.

“The supporters can be our 12th player on the pitch and they can help us. They helped in the past already, creating amazing atmospheres in so many difficult moments for the team, and now is a moment as well that we need them and they can be sure that on the pitch we are going to give our life to give joy for them and to give them happiness.”

Last week, the club had a test run of the open area with invited fans, including a simulated fire escape drill, and it has been deemed ready to go.

We’ll look forward to a safe and exciting first roll out on Sunday for, hopefully, another Liverpool spanking of their rivals.
