Rumour Mongering: Leeds Failure Boosts Liverpool’s Summerville Hopes
A failure to earn promotion reportedly means Leeds must raise £100M via player sales with Liverpool having been linked to Crysencio Summerville.
Having been recently linked with 22-year-old Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville, Liverpool’s hopes of signing the rising Dutch star were reportedly boosted by after the West Yorkshire club failed to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
Having been defeated by Southampton in the playoff over the weekend, it appears all but certain that Leeds will have to now have to embark on a player clearout in order to earn around £100M in the transfer market this summer and balance the books.
Summerville was one of the Championship’s standout young attackers this season and in addition to Liverpool’s rumoured interest, the winger has been linked with a handful of Premier League sides in recent months including Aston Villa and Chelsea.
Spending most of last season on the left, he scored 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 games with a goal involvement every 126 minutes. Having signed for Leeds ahead of his age 19 season, Summerville qualifies as domestically trained despite his nationality.
Confirmation of Leeds’ failure to earn promotion has understandably led to a flurry of chatter regarding Summerville’s future over the past 24 hours, though as yet there is little to go on that isn’t either speculative or based on older claims and reports.
