The two Liverpool players faced questions about the club while in Monaco

It is Liverpool’s first weekend into the offseason, and I am filled with both a feeling of both restlessness and sadness. While I’m sitting at home wondering what to do with myself in this now Klopp-less existence, many of the Liverpool players are out enjoying some time off before a summer full of international football commences.

Two of the Reds find themselves in Monaco for the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. Trent Alexander-Arnold is an investor for the Alpine team, and Virgil van Dijk was seen palling around with Dutch compatriot and reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen.

With a heavy sporting media presence in Monaco for the Grand Prix, both Alexander-Arnold and van Dijk faced questions about the changes coming for Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold was asked if he felt there would be disruptions with the changes to the man in charge and much of the coaching staff.

“I have trust in the club and who we’ve appointed. As a player, that’s all you can ask for, to have trust in what the higher-ups have brought in. I’m sure it will be a smooth transition.”

Virgil van Dijk was asked if he felt Liverpool would be able to sustain the success the club has seen under now former manage (sob) Jürgen Klopp. The Dutch defender echoed the sentiment from Trent about his trust in the club.

“Obviously I have full trust in the club and the decisions going forward. It’s exciting as well. Obviously change so always a bit unknown but I’ve got full confidence and I’m looking forward to the new season already.”

Van Dijk also was asked if he could reassure Liverpool supporters. His response was diplomatic but positive in its assessment.

“One hundred percent, but success is not guaranteed. That’s pretty obvious. But we’ve got to work our socks off in order to make it happen and we have a good coach that’s coming in, good backroom staff and we have a very good team so let’s see what happens.”
