Get to know Arne Slot a little bit better by seeing how his former club paid tribute to him ahead of his departure.

A day after departing Liverpool legend Jürgen Klopp announced that Arne Slot would be taking over for him as the club’s new head coach, and after weeks of talk—including from Slot himself—pointing to it being a done deal, the Reds today officially announced the 45-year-old Dutchman as their new first team trainer.

The insistence on defining him as a head coach rather than manager appears a point of emphasis by the club that will take some getting used to, and we are yet to hear from Slot himself or any of Liverpool’s upper management on his appointment, but for those who want to wait until things are officially official it’s now, well, official.

That there isn’t anything from the man himself or the likes of Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes or Director of Football Michael Edwards, though, doesn’t mean there’s no Slot content to sink our collective teeth into as we look to get a little better acquainted with the Reds’ newly announced next head coach.

For that, we’ll look to his now former club, Feyenoord, who have honoured Slot as he prepares to depart in a manner that looks at least a little bit like how Liverpool honoured the departing Klopp, releasing a tribute to their manager following his final game in charge of the Eredivisie side after three highly successful seasons.

After signing on as their manager ahead of the 2021-22 season, the former Zwolle midfielder helped guide a Feyenoord side that had floundered under Dick Advocaat to the Europa Conference League final in his first season in charge, the Eredivisie title in his second season, and won the KNVB Cup in year three.
