Rumor Mongering: Martin Zubimendi Verbally Agrees to Join Arsenal

A place famous for its mountains, North London.
Last summer, Liverpool failed to get the signature of Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi over the line. Despite reportedly triggering his release clause and agreeing to personal terms with the player, Zubimendi backed out at the last minute, citing, among other reasons, the mountains around San Sebastian, Spain.
Now, according to Chief Internet Rumor Monger (you know the one), Zubimendi has verbally agreed to join Arsenal as they attempt to equal the Buffalo Bills in consecutive runners-up seasons. As we all know, North London is known for its mountains.
Last summer there was some speulation that it was actual Real Madrid who sculpered the deal for Zubimendi, which is wild and would be completely uncharacteristic of the Spanish Giants to tap up and interfer with other clubs’ plans years in advance.
Anyway, things worked out pretty well for Liverpool, after they discovered Ryan Gravenberch could do all the Zubimendi things, and look better doing it. Although Liverpool’s transfer committee generally continue their admiration for players for years, there have been no real links to The Reds returning for him this summer.
He could be a good signing for the Gunners, but beware, his verbal agreement doesn’t seem to count for all that much. Besides, he’ll probably end up going to Real Madrid in the end, anyway.
