Despite plenty of speculation surrounding a potential return to management in recent weeks, former Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp remains happy in semi-retirement lying on beaches, staring in off-putting Trivago ads, and doing appearances as Red Bull’s head of football operations.

At least that’s the story according to his agent, who came out this week to throw cold water on any of the chatter and say that if anyone out there is dreaming of Klopp arriving as the next manager of their club, well, they might not want to get too invested in the idea as it’s not happening.

“At the moment I don’t see that happening because he’s very happy with his new role and in this environment,” agent Marc Kosicke said when asked about Klopp’s future. “Maybe at some point he’ll say he needs the locker room again, but at the moment he’s very happy in his role.

“Before joining Red Bull, Jurgen could have coached the United States or England national teams. Probably also Germany. Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These inquiries haven’t stopped.”

As for the longer term, Kosicke insisted that Klopp “has undergone a metamorphosis” and no longer considers management the only viable way for him to be meaningfully involved in the game, though the consensus likely remains that down the road he will end up managing Germany.
