Pre-Match

Florian Wirtz is back in the starting line-up! Happy days! Now, just the small matter of not shitting the bed against a worse opponent.

First Half

This fucking team. Last time we faced Galatasaray, they scored an early goal and Liverpool spent the entire rest of the match fruitlessly chasing a goal. So, naturally Liverpool concede almost immediately. Great stuff.

Other than nearly conceding a second straight away, Liverpool have shown a decent enough response. The Reds create a great chance for Wirtz, who really should do better, but his scuffed shot is easily parried away by the goalkeeper.

Kerkez goes into the book for a tissue soft challenge. But then Ibou might’ve gotten away with a foul in the box a few moments before. So, swings and roundabouts.

Well, that was a garbage first half. Again. Liverpool are trailing Galatasary at the half. Again. And deserve to be losing. Again.

I miss when Liverpool served as a reliable distraction from the shit state of the world rather than as the poster child for and constant reminder of the enshittification of everything.

Second Half

Slot makes his first change of the match on the hour mark. Frimpong and Robertson come on, with Kerkez and Salah making way. Kerkez has been okay, but is on a card. Salah, on the other hand, has been ass.

Liverpool have only become more of a hot mess since the subs came on. They appear to be completely bereft of ideas. Hugo was nearly gifted a goal, but couldn’t beat the keeper 1-v-1. And then The Reds somehow managed to bundle one over the line off a corner, but it was correctly chalked off for handball.

Gakpo comes on for Wirtz for the last fifteen minutes, let’s see if he’s in the mood to do anything today. It’s the middle of the month, so he doesn’t have to worry about collecting rent for a few more weeks. Maybe he won’t be so distracted today.

Final Thoughts

That was a total team performance! Every single player was dogshit. Every single player didn’t pull their weight. Incredible. At least we’re getting out of Istanbul down only one goal.
