Over the weekend, while Liverpool’s men’s team were busy embarrassing themselves as they followed up a promising start against Manchester City in their FA Cup quarter-final by falling apart completely at the first sign of adversity, the women’s team was doing not that.

Over in the Women’s FA Cup, LFCW were by far the better side throughout on the road against Charlton but couldn’t make the breakthrough as the game headed to extra time. The Lady Reds kept the pressure up, though, and didn’t crack, in the end scoring the goal they needed to advance.

For their reward, they will face Brighton at home in the semi-final. On the other side of the draw, Chelsea advanced past Tottenham and will face the winner of Manchester City and Birmingham later today. The semi-final matches are set to be played on Sunday, May 10.

Liverpool will be mild underdogs in the match—and bigger underdogs in the final if they make it—against a Brighton side four points and four places ahead of them in the table. The game being at home will help, though, and recent form suggests the sides might not currently be far apart.
