The season may have just ended for Liverpool Women last weekend, but they’ve already hit the ground running for the summer transfer window.

The club announced on Thursday that they’ve secured an agreement with defender Sara Agrez to join the squad upon the expiration of her contract with the Frauen-Bundesliga club Cologne on July 1.

Signing a defender as quickly as possible is understandably a priority after losing both Gemma Bonner and Gemma Evans at the end of the season, so while Agrez is relatively unknown, its at least nice to see the club identifying holes to be filled.

Agrez is a Slovenian international, with 50 caps for her country since making her senior debut in 2017. She started 23 of Cologne’s 26 matches this season, scoring a single goal, although the club itself finished in 7th.

Before Cologne Agrez played for ZNK Mura in Slovenia and German clubs Turbine Potsdam and Wolfsburg.
