Isak Called Up for Sweden World Cup Duty
Liverpool’s number 9 has officially received his call-up to international duty for Sweden ahead of this summer’s World Cup, which will kick off across the United States, Canada, and Mexico next month.
The Swedish striker has struggled with long- and short-term injuries this season, as well as general issues of fitness after his protests at Newcastle meant he lacked a full pre-season regiment.
This is decent news for the Reds, as a call-up suggests the recent caution with the player is not indicative of any underlying injuries that would need a post-season rest and recovery to address. It’s unclear, however, how the World Cup will affect player fitness, particularly given the hot temperatures expected at many venues.
