Liverpool FC’s new signing Victor Muñoz hasn’t been able to do the customary interview since putting pen to paper, but had the opportunity to talk about the process in an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

On the opportunity to play for England’s most successful club, Muñoz said, “it’s an opportunity you can’t pass up.”

Perhaps more interesting, Muñoz spoke about the role new head coach Andoni Iraola played in convincing him to make the switch to Merseyside:

“He played an important role in my decision.”

“He transmitted his confidence to me, the way his team plays… he played an important role in my decision. It all happened very quickly.”

The player also spoke of his appreciation for Osasuna, for whom his seven goals and five assists played a big part in helping avoid relegation:

“It is an incredible place. I’ll always cherish it. They gave me the best year of my entire football career.”

Muñoz has been currently sidelined with an injury at the World Cup, and went into detail about the issues that have kept him off the pitch thus far:

“We were managing it, but I felt some discomfort and we are trying to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. These have been very difficult moments because this is my childhood dream, and seeing it all fall apart because of an injury is incredibly frustrating. It (World Cup success) is all I think about. It’s a dream and I want to be back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

He has been seen back in training, doing individual sessions, so hopefully he’ll have a part to play yet in Spain’s World Cup campaign, and we can’t wait to see him hit the ground running at Liverpool.
