Jürgen Klopp Focused On Job At Hand
The Liverpool manager insists he is focused on a Top 4 finish, starting with the game against Crystal Palace.
Liverpool fans the world over are stuck in the unwanted doldrums of international break, just at a time when we’d all like to be rushing into the decisive final weeks of the 2017/18 campaign.
It is an especially poor time to go into a break, with Liverpool in third in both the form table and actual table, managing 13 points in their last 6 matches, including the 5-0 throttling of Watford the last time out. Regardless, Reds boss Jürgen Klopp insists the lads will be ready to go again against Crystal Palace on the other side of the break.
“We can only do our job,” Kloppo told the club’s official website.
“We have to win football games and the next one especially will be very difficult. Crystal Palace, they won on Saturday [and it’s] after an international break so we have to be ready in two days.
“We will be ready in two days, that’s a challenge but first of all they [Liverpool’s players] all need to come back healthy and I hope really for that.
“Then we have to prepare for the rest of the season and use the good situation and the good basis we created.”
The trip to Palace will not be easy by any stretch. Both Tottenham and Manchester United relied extremely late goals against the Eagles to escape Selhurst Park with all three points.
However, it is also an opportunity for Liverpool to continue applying pressure on the teams around them. It is a chance to go 10 points ahead of Chelsea, 5 points ahead of Spurs, and a point ahead of United, albeit having played an extra two games than all the teams above.
Liverpool will no doubt be hoping for either a Chelsea loss or draw when they face Spurs the following day, but they can do nothing to influence the result. As the boss said, all the Reds can do is push on, and beat the teams in front of them.
