Barnes backs club stance on Fekir
Liverpool legend John Barnes has insisted fans must trust Jurgen Klopp and the club amidst the frustration of missing out on Nabil Fekir.
The deal had virtually been concluded when serious concerns over a knee problem emerged, prompting Liverpool to pull out, at least ostensibly.
Fans were left stunned, particularly as Fekir had reportedly completed an introductory interview for LFCTV, but Barnes is fully behind the club’s decision.
“If they feel that there is a medical issue then they shouldn’t [sign Fekir],” Barnes, who made 314 appearances for the Reds, told Bonus Code Bets.

“Liverpool have to do what they think is right and Jurgen Klopp has to make those decisions. Obviously, we trust Jurgen Klopp and the choices he makes so if he decides not to sign him then we shouldn’t.
“If he decides to sign him with his slight injury but it’s not an injury that’s going to stop him playing and we feel it’s worth it then I’ll back him.”
It has been suggested that Liverpool could yet pursue a cut-price deal after Fekir returns from World Cup duty with France, but a host of alternatives have already been linked, chiefly Hakim Ziyech of Ajax.
