Mohamed Salah update
Egypt coach Hector Cuper has lauded Mohamed Salah, but still won’t confirm if the Egyptian is fit to start tonight’s game against Russia.
It does appear that Egypt are trying to keep Russia guessing as it has been reported earlier in the week that Salah will play against the hosts.
From what Cuper said, it does sound as if Salah will play some part.
“Salah is one of the best players in the world,” Cuper said, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo.
“He is in the top 10 today for me, there’s no shadow of a doubt there. It’s an honour and a privilege to coach him.
“It’s great to be able to work with him because on top of being talented, he is humble, he plays as a team player and that, at least for me, is extremely important nowadays.

“He’s an important player for us, obviously, nobody can deny that, and this I say with all due respect to all the other players in the Egyptian squad.
“The fact that we can count on him – I’m not saying he is a guarantee, but he’s definitely an important offensive weapon and I have to say when we don’t have him, we feel his absence and we have to come up with alternatives to try to get the same strength in offence.
“Hopefully tomorrow, he’ll be up to play. I’m optimistic, I think he’ll be able to play.”
Egypt need a point to keep their chances of progressing out of the group alive. Anything less will see their campaign come to an end.
