David Wagner believes Klopp is lying about Liverpool’s injuries

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner believes his life-long friend Jurgen Klopp is exaggerating the extent of Liverpool’s injury problems ahead of their clash on Saturday.

Liverpool have suffered a number of injuries during the recent international break, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita sustaining a thigh problem, a broken thumb and a hamstring issue respectively.

James Milner and Virgil van Dijk have also only just recovered from hamstring and rib issues, meaning that Liverpool may have to rotate heavily at the weekend.

However, Wagner thinks his Premier League rival manager is trying to pull a fast one on him.

“I have known Jurgen long enough, I know he loves to use smoke screens,” said Wagner.

“I expect that most of his players will be available.

“I have known him long enough and he likes to moan after the international break!”

Mane underwent a thumb operation yesterday, while Van Dijk was rested for Holland’s friendly with Belgium the day before.

It remains to be seen how many of Liverpool’s injured players will actually be available for the Huddersfield match – it’s likely that only Klopp really knows.
