Jurgen Klopp admits there is pressure on his team to deliver silverware this season
Jurgen Klopp is not hiding from the fact that there is pressure on his team to deliver silverware this season after a strong transfer window.
Liverpool at this current moment have spent £170million on new players, which ultimately has got the footballing public discussing Liverpool’s chances of silverware this season.
The Reds have brought in Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson with that money.
“We know we have to deliver,” said Klopp, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo.
Klopp believes that Liverpool now have the depth to challenge on all fronts next season, perhaps something they have lacked during his tenure.
“We expect more from ourselves,” Klopp said.
“We will go again for the championship and each kind of cup but that does not mean I can sit here and we will get it. We have the highest ambitions, 100%.
“More can be we have more points. Where we would be in the table, I have no clue. More could be we play more often our best football, though we have no influence on how the other teams play against each other. Other teams, of course, will do transfer business as well.
“They will not be weaker than last year. City brought in (Riyad) Mahrez. I did not hear that they lost one player so far. So it means the quality of last year plus Mahrez. That’s a nice plan as well. United will go for it too and that’s completely normal.”

Klopp ultimately believes that depth is a must in football today and it is too difficult to challenge with just 11 players.
“It is not just that we have to be more consistent, we have to create circumstances where we can be more consistent,” Klopp said.
“Nobody is consistent with 11 players. What we are working on is the depth of the squad because you need it.
“The first part of the season when we did the rotation and we were quite active with it, I think we did six or seven changes from one game or the other, we still had quality on the pitch that felt perfect.
“If you can choose, and they are more in a rhythm because you change more frequently instead of now and in 12 weeks.
“The other guy (who wouldn’t play for 12 weeks) wouldn’t have rhythm so that’s not fair. As long as you could do that it was really good.
“We need to make sure we can do that much longer over the season and that is only possible if you have the squad.
“I really loved having Curtis Jones, Rafa Camacho, Ben Woodburn around at the last part of the season but it wouldn’t have been fair to throw them in and expect them to do something – it is too important. Chelsea won each game and we had to win as well each game.
“That’s the situation. Create the circumstances that we can be more consistent and to improve individually and as a group. First of all for that we have to reach the level of last year which was quite good and make the next steps.
“Bringing in new players doesn’t help you immediately to reach to the next level because they need to adapt to what we are doing.”

Klopp won’t be able to play his best 11 players come the opening day of the Premier League season against West Ham United.
Many are still returning from holiday after a busy season for club and country, which impacts the likes of Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson being available.
“I want to have the best start ever but we all know something can happen and it is all questioned in a second,” Klopp said.
“I don’t want to prepare anyone for a bad start because I don’t want to have it but it is possible. I cannot ignore it. I am in the third season and each season we have a period where a few people questioned me or our progress and all that stuff and in the end it was okay. I am prepared for these moments.
“I don’t want to have them but I will not go nuts and think we have lost everything. We need to work with the different situations of the players.
“The new players will make us stronger 100% – starting, coming from the bench, whatever. But it will not happen in the first day.
“It is all about staying calm, looking at the situation, judging it right and then making the step. I am confident and we will be confident.”
