Mané and Salah Will Return at the End of July

The Liverpool superstars will return when the Reds take on Manchester City.
The World Cup is officially over and the Premier League isn’t back yet, which means we’re about to head into that magical time when clubs across Europe visit other continents and play meaningless games to sold-out stadiums. Liverpool is about to head out to the United States to take part in the International Champions Cup where they’ll take on Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until July 28 and Manchester United to see Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané in action. The Liverpool stars had disappointing World Cups (if you’re only interested in ‘goals’ and ‘results’, that is) but are taking well-earned breaks before they return to Melwood.
“Salah and Mané will come to America with us, but they come back [on] the 20th and we fly [out on] the 20th,” Jurgen Klopp said about the decision to rest them before they don their red jerseys again. “It makes not too much sense that they play the 22th or the 25th. Maybe three days later in ‘the derby’ they can play.”
“It’s good that they can come,” the boss added. “Bobby Firmino is coming back after that, Xherdan Shaqiri is coming, and the last ones are the Belgium and England players. Then after the 5th (of August) we can prepare for the season.”
Liverpool will play one last friendly in the U.K. before flying to the U.S. when they take on Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday, July 17.
