No Mannschaft Move For Klopp, As Löw Set To Remain

You can’t have him, Germany, he’s the Liverpool Country manager.

Although not necessarily a pressing concern, Germany’s shock Group Stage exit at the 2018 World Cup left question marks surrounding the fate of national team coach Joachim Löw. And with any big coaching vacancy in world football, especially in Germany, all eyes turn to The Normal One, Jürgen Klopp. However, it seems as if Löw is set to stay on managing Die Mannschaft.

“I feel, in spite of the legitimate criticism of our departure, generally much support and encouragement,” Löw said.

“But now I want to design the rebuilding with full commitment. It all takes time, but everything will happen in time for the start of the new international season in September.”

Since taking over from the other Swabian Jürgen K (Klinsmann) following the 2006 World Cup, Löw has never failed to reach at least the semifinals in a major tournament (other than this year, obviously and spectacularly). He has guided Germany to two finals, losing to that Spanish side 1-0 in the 2008 European Championships, and of course, lifting the 2014 World Cup. Germany also lifted last year’s Confederations Cup.

As for our beloved manager, a move “in this moment” always seemed unlikely for Kloppo. So far in his managerial career he has stayed at a club until he feels he can no longer carry the project forward any further. And frankly he has unfinished business on Merseyside.

Moreover, it is uncertain whether a job managing Germany would be Klopp’s cup of tea maß of bier. National team managers are hampered by external pressures and expectations, internal politics, big egos, and—most importantly for Klopp—a severe lack of training and prep time ahead of major tournaments.

Regardless of how poor a fit it might have been for Klopp, it seems as if we can definitively cross this worry off our list for now.
