Danny Ings and Divock Origi could stay put

Danny Ings is to stay at Liverpool after his expected Deadline Day move failed to materialise, while Divock Origi may also remain at Anfield if rumours are to be believed.

Southampton and Palace were set to go head-to-head for Ings’ signature after he expressed his desire to play first-team football elsewhere.

However, Southampton have decided not to pursue a deal, while Crystal Palace have opted to sign Swansea’s Jordan Ayew on loan rather than fork out the £20million Liverpool demanded.

The Reds have yet to receive a suitable offer, according to the Echo‘s James Pearce, and Klopp is not actively looking to offload the striker.

As it stands, then, Ings will stay put and provide attacking depth.

Origi, meanwhile, was put up for sale by the club after a series of uninspiring pre-season performances.

The club slapped a £27million asking price on the Belgian, who spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg, but his suitors may be reluctant meet that demand.

There is European interest in Origi, meaning he still has until the end of the month to seal a move, whether temporary or permanent.

However, Dominic King of the Mail believes he may well stay at Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge’s pre-season revival means he is likely to play second-fiddle to Roberto Firmino, as opposed to Ings or Origi, provided he stays fit.
