Mane on Keita, Salah and Firmino’s celebrations
Sadio Mane has joked that helping Naby Keita adjust to life at Liverpool has been ‘too much work’ in an interview about what goes on behind-the-scenes at the club.
Keita, a team-mate of Mane’s at RB Salzburg earlier in his career, joined up with the Reds squad earlier this summer.
Mane says he has been serving as the Guinean’s translator in recent weeks and feels he has been settling in well.
Asked by Copa90 how he is finding working with Keita, he replied: “Too much work all the time! Now he has his own English teacher so I can rest at home and not have to translate all the time!
“He’s a good lad, he’s enjoying playing for Liverpool and he’s a very, very happy boy, an exciting player to play with.”

Mane was also asked about his relationship with fellow attackers Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, admitting that he is fortunate to play alongside two top-level forwards.
“They’re great players, they make everything easier for me. I enjoy it, I’m a lucky boy.”
Quizzed on the more serious matter of whether he can beat the rapid Salah in a race, he declared: “I’m quicker, I’m quicker. Sorry Mo.”
Last season, there emerged an amusing trend of Mane appearing to mimic the bizarre celebrations of Firmino, but the Senegalese international is adamant that it is a different story on the training ground.
“The fans deserve to know the truth,” he said. “Firmino has to stop copying me, it’s not me who copies him!
Mane swapped squad numbers ahead of the new season and revealed that he would have worn the no.10 from the off had it not been occupied by Philippe Coutinho on his arrival.
“I had been playing all my career with the number 10, from academy until Liverpool,” he said. “When I came to Liverpool, one of the best players had it, so I couldn’t say ‘Coutinho give me the number’.
“When he left, I took the number 10.”
