OFFICIAL: Marko Grujic Joins Hertha Berlin On Season Loan
The midfielder also re-upped his contract with the Reds before shipping out.
Just as Kevin and The Echo predicted, Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic has indeed extended his contract with Liverpool and signed a season long loan deal with Hertha Berlin.

Grujic recently helped Cardiff City secure promotion to the Premier League and even featured a bit over the summer for Serbia in the World Cup, and is now on his way to fight for regular minutes in the Bundesliga.
He’s so far only made 14 senior appearances for Liverpool since coming from Red Star Belgrade in 2016, and his progress has been steady in adjusting to playing in more physical leagues.
He’s always been fairly impressive whenever he’s come on for Liverpool, either in preseason or cup appearances, and after being so instrumental in helping Cardiff last season he looked a good tool to keep around for added depth. Sure, there’s a definite need for minutes to get the kid ready, especially after a lengthy injury spell early in his Liverpool career. The competition in midfield is currently real tough, with Jordan Henderson and James Milner and Fabinho bossing the six role - leaving little room for Grujic - but as we all saw towards the end of last season, injuries can decimate as much depth as possible.
It comes down to the age old question, though - should we keep him just in case and he loses out on the opportunity if our midfielders remain fit? Or do we let him go get minutes elsewhere for now and not have him as a back up anymore? Neither option is really fair to Grujic the player and the person, the kid who wants to advance his career, so this loan to the Bundesliga seems to be the best for all parties.
At least Hertha Berlin have looked to play some positive and pressing football, similar to Liverpool, and the style shouldn’t be too shocking or tough to relearn as he switches.
