Rumour Mongering: Borussia Dortmund Interested in Origi

The German club has yet to extend an offer to Liverpool.
Silly season on the continent is continuing apace and with Ragnar Klavan and Marko Grujić’s moves finalized to Cagliari and Hertha BSC respectively, the transfer rumours have focused back on to Divock Origi. The 23-year old Belgian international has reportedly attracted the interest of Borussia Dortmund, who need to add strikers to their squad.
Origi left Anfield last season on loan to Wolfsburg, and while his time there started promisingly, he ended the season with only seven goals in 36 appearances for the club. Despite this, Liverpool has valued Origi at £27 million (30 million Euros) and are unlikely to budge on that.
The player was previously linked with Valencia (who signed their first choice Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea) and Wolves (who Origi wasn’t particularly keen on after the clubs were done negotiating). Whether or not anything comes from the latest rumours remains to be seen, but the reports of Dortmund’s interest come from James Pearce at the ECHO, so they’re probably not completely fabricated. Per the reports, there has been no offer extended to Liverpool yet.
Whatever happens within the final few days of the transfer window, Origi is unlikely to get many more starts with Liverpool. A departure from the club is essential to his continued development as a player. Whether that departure is to Dortmund remains to be seen.
