‘United fans will look at Liverpool with envy’
Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy reckons Manchester United fans will be jealous of their arch-rival’s style of play and the contrasting atmosphere at the club.
Liverpool have kicked off their title bid with two consecutive wins, while Jose Mourinho is feeling at the heat at United after seeing his lacklustre side fall to a 3-2 defeat at Brighton on Sunday.
Much has been made of the stylistic difference between the two teams, with Jurgen Klopp’s men renowned for their high-intensity game and Mourinho accused of setting-up too defensively.
United supporters will be pining for a more attacking approach, Murphy claims.
“I think a lot of Manchester United fans will look at the way Klopp has Liverpool playing with such attacking intent and they will be envious,” he told Bwin Sports.
“Liverpool are always on the front foot, with fast movement and excellent speed of passing. They are never in fear of the opposition and they can’t be accused of giving their opponent too much respect.”

Murphy, who made nearly 250 appearances for Liverpool, believes Mourinho’s frustration and disappointment after he failed to sufficiently bolster his squad this summer has consumed his team.
By contrast, he says, Liverpool can only benefit from the ‘enthusiasm’ demonstrated by Klopp.
“I think Manchester United fans will look at that and wish it was what they were watching at Old Trafford,” he said. “The body language of Manchester United players is reflective of Mourinho’s mood and there does seem to be a discontent within the group.
“The players are lacking energy and confidence and they’re showing their frustration on the pitch. You compare that to Klopp’s enthusiasm, positivity and passion and the contrast is unbelievable.
“However, it’s important to remember that Mourinho has won more trophies at Manchester United than Klopp has at Liverpool. Mourinho has been much more successful than Klopp over the years so fans shouldn’t get carried away thinking the grass is always greener.”
