Rumoured Liverpool Target Once Wanted To Play With Red’s Fabinho

The chance to play with the Reds’ new boy is yet another argument in the growing case for the PSG starlet

You guys, Adrien Rabiot-to-Liverpool might not quite be a thing quite yet, but there’s certainly a non-zero percent chance that it will be. With his contract expiring in less than a year’s time, the talented midfielder has become restless in the French capital, putting his many suitors, from AC Milan to Barcelona, on alert.

The fashionable lads in red over on Merseyside are said to also be in the queue, with Jürgen Klopp’s attractive brand of football as well as shows of domestic and international strength making up the majority of their case.

However, another premise in their argument is the fact that Rabiot has already admitted to wanting to play with one Liverpool player in particular—it’s just that he said it before the player had actually moved to Anfield.

The French international went on record last year as claiming that current Red but then-Monaco midfielder, Fabinho was the perfect option to succeed the aging Thiago Motta in the PSG side.

“It is important, in my opinion, to recruit a player who can succeed Thiago Motta,” Rabiot said at the time when asked about his opinion on a move for Fabinho. “For this season, since Thiago, who turned 35, will not be able to play sixty matches this year. But also for the future.”

Of course, the Reds ultimately pipped French champions to the chase for Brazilian and have reportedly now turned their attention to the wantaway 23-year-old himself.

But while the competition for one of the most sought-after names on the market will be fierce, with the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal said to also be in hot pursuit, the good news for Klopp and the charm brigade is that none of the other suitors will be able to claim that they already bought someone on their target’s wish list.
