Mane set to return for red Star, Henderson a doubt

Sadio Mane is fit to face Red Star Belgrade tomorrow night in Liverpool’s Group C Champions League clash, according to the Evening Standard.

Mane broke his thumb in training for Senegal and underwent surgery on it last Wednesday, forcing him to sit out Liverpool’s win over Huddersfield at the weekend.

Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be delighted with the news that his pacey winger is available for the Red Star game, especially with Liverpool’s recent injury issues.

Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri came in for Mane and Naby Keita against Huddersfield, with Shaqiri proving the assist for Mohamed Salah’s goal.

If he starts, Mane should line up alongside Salah and Roberto Firmino, with the latter having been rested for the majority of the Huddersfield game.

However, the fitness of captain Jordan Henderson will be assessed late-on after he was withdrawn with a tight hamstring on Saturday.

The Reds trained today and will do so again tomorrow morning before Red Star arrive at Anfield for the kickoff at 8pm, and Henderson will be given as much time as possible to prove his fitness before the match.
