Rumor Mongering: Reds to Miss Out on Brazilian Target
Liverpool were linked by the loosest of threads to Flamengo attacker Lucas Paqueta, but now it appears he’s off to AC Milan.
It seems as if Liverpool will have to continue wait to fill the Brazilian named Lucas hole in their squad. Last week there were “In The Know” Twitter rumblings that the agent of Flamengo attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta was in Liverpool, presumably to secure a move to Merseyside.
Those ITKs, and I know this will come as a shock, appeared to be full of shit.
Instead, it appears that the 21-year-old Brazilian is on his way to Serie A, as Flamengo director of sport Carlos Noval confirmed to Italian publication Tutto Mercato that talks with AC Milan were ongoing.
“It’s not a done deal with Milan yet and we prefer to talk only when things are done and dusted,” Noval said in the interview. “We are talking. Negotiations are ongoing, but as far as we are concerned, they are not closed yet.
“I do think it can be finalised in two weeks, though. It should be a couple of weeks, yes.”
So, it appears as if the thing that was barely a thing isn’t actually a thing. Aren’t international breaks fun? We’ll just have to live with our current trio of boss Brazilians and move on elsewhere.
