Jurgen Klopp: ‘I’m very disappointed and we have to do better’

Liverpool manager was at a loss for words when asked to reflect on his sides uninspired defeat to Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night.

Milan Pakov’s first-half double gave the Serbian side a lead after 45 minutes – the first time the Reds conceded more than once in the first half of a Champions League game for the first time since October 2014.

Speaking after the game, Klopp said: “The boys are very disappointed, I’m very disappointed and we have to do better. We have to do better because we can do better, but tonight it is too late.

“They had too many set pieces that’s true and with one of them they scored. Then more or less straight away they score the second one and then the atmosphere was completely different, you could feel it.

“They were on their bikes and we had to deal with the situation. It is not what we wanted and we will go for the other two games 100 per cent. We all have to deal with it now.”
