Liverpool FC’s Internationals: Dominic Solanke Scores Brace

The last slate of international fixtures to feature LFC players has drawn to a close. Here’s a quick round up on all the action.

We’re mere days away from Liverpool FC football making its full return against Watford on the weekend. This will undoubtedly bring a sense of relief to Reds across the globe for whom the dearth of LFC action on the pitch has likely made the last week and a half a bit of a drudgery. But before we get to that, we had the last slate of international fixtures happening today before the sweet, sweet release of waving goodbye to international football for the rest of the year.

For Liverpool, there were only a handful of major news points among these matches and chief among them is young striker Dominic Solanke nabbing a brace for England’s U21 squad in their friendly against Denmark. Solanke has found time on the pitch for Liverpool even tougher to come by this year with Roberto Firmino retaining his place as the preferred number 1 choice and a resurgent Daniel Sturridge looking to eat up minutes right behind. So, there can be no doubt that finding the back of the net will provide a lift for Solanke and will hopefully be a spot for him to kick off from.

Elsewhere, fan favorite Andrew Robertson helped captain Scotland to advancement in the UEFA Nations League in a nervy 3-2 win against Israel. This isn’t the first time the young left back has been handed the arm-band, but its clear that Robertson’s importance both from a player quality and leadership standpoint to his national team is solidifying. From the outside, being completely removed from the machinations of the Scottish National Team, it appears that our Robbo is a central cog to the whole machine.

Finally, the remaining first team members off on duty are Liverpool’s Brazilian Trio: Roberto Firmino, Alisson Becker, and Fabinho. Of the three, only Bobby found a place in Tite’s side as Brazil notched a 1-nil win in their friendly against Cameroon.

All told, its nice to be able to watch the international break pass us by with a minimal amount of fuss and, as of now, no new injuries. Jurgen Klopp now has the remainder of the week to receive all those who’ve gone abroad and fold them back into preparations for Watford. Up the Reds.
