Liverpool left sweating on European progression following PSG defeat

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will need to beat Napoli by two clear goals on matchday six to ensure their progression to the Last 16 of the Champions League.

Last years European finalists have now lost three away group matches for the first time in their history.

The Reds could beat Napoli by a 1-0 scoreline at Anfield and progress but a 2-1 result or higher would result in Liverpool’s likely drop out to the Europa League.

In Paris, Juan Bernat and Neymar put the hosts ahead before James Milner’s penalty on the stroke of half-time offered hope.

But despite an improved second-half performance Liverpool could not find an equaliser, leaving themselves with an all or nothing scenario in a fortnight’s time.
