Borussia Dortmund CEO wants to face Liverpool in Champions League Ro16

Hans-Joachim Watzke

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke says the Bundesliga outfit has a debt to settle with Liverpool and would love to face the Reds in the Champions League Round of 16.

After yet another fantastic win, Liverpool find themselves progressing to the next round of Europe’s premier competition.

A 1-0 win over Napoli at Anfield on Tuesday evening means Jurgen Klopp’s side leapfrog Napoli in Group C and avoid ending up in the Europa League which is a huge boost in aspirations to maintain their title challenge.

“It won’t make a difference (to be first in the group),” Watzke said after BVB beat AS Monaco, as recorded by AS.

“I was just looking at the groups and determined that there are three English teams in second position: Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.

“The main difference is in the home advantage in the return match. Liverpool may not necessarily be our opponent, although we still have a debt to settle. We have to look which draw we will get on Monday.

“The most important thing is that we have gained a good image with 13 points this season after the embarrassment last year with only two points.

“And that’s fine. I have to praise the team.”
